Examples of Springfield Armory World War II Follower Assemblies

followerassembies.jpg

Pictured are the different follower assemblies used by Springfield Armory during World War II.  The earliest Gas Trap and Gas Port rifles had the type with "tails" however they were also marked with a number just about dead center on the bottom.  The later number types were used from the GHS era through NFR.  Please note the two side milling cuts.  Springfield did these cuts and Winchester left this edge square.  Winchester had late parts marked 13 without these cuts.  Winchester's numbers are also san serif.
